Juan Roberto Diago, born in 1971 in Havana, Cuba, is a versatile artist who works as a painter, sculptor, and installation artist. He lives and works in Havana, where he studied at the prestigious San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, he serves as a Consulting Professor at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana and is a recognized member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). Through his art, Diago Durruthy consistently explores the essence of the enslaved individual in contemporary Black society, using found materials in his creations. His work reflects the ongoing conflict of the African diaspora over the years, showcasing themes of resistance and the daily struggle. By interweaving piece by piece, the scars of the slaves are visible as traces of the past, imbuing his work with the strength to continue life. His pieces have been exhibited in hundreds of spaces through both solo and group shows in approximately 25 countries. His work is featured in around 20 collections of significant importance nationally and internationally.
